LINDSAY HUGHES
Counselling, Psychotherapy and Supervision MNCPS (Accred)
Welcome
Life can be tough at times and we could all do with some support along the way. I provide a safe and confidential space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings whilst being supported. I work across a number of different therapeutic approaches depending on what you need at the time. I work with how you are feeling currently and how this is affecting you in the moment but also explore what has happened in the past and how that might be affecting you now. Through exploring the dynamic connection between early life events and current behaviour patterns, some relief and understanding of painful feelings can be found, and behaviour patterns can change.
Counselling sessions are available in Bath and Bristol as well as available online via Zoom, so you can access support from anywhere around the world.

ABOUT ME...
I have always been passionate about helping people in many different contexts. In my previous career I worked in the creative arts and education sector with a wide range of artists and community groups supporting people in accessing the arts through commissions and projects.
However, during a particularly challenging time in my life, I had a period of counselling. Counselling had such an impact on my wellbeing that I decided to change career and embark on a rigorous 3 year study, with further specialist training in the area of trauma. For me to help people to move forward with their lives, in the same way that I was helped is hugely rewarding. Life stuff can become debilitating and seeing any way forward is often near on impossible sometimes.
There is hope and there is a way forward!
MY QUALIFICATIONS
I am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and hold a Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I am also a qualified supervisor, supporting other cousellors to work with their clients. I am a member of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and work within the ethical framework which is responsible and accountable. I have had further extensive training in the area of trauma, helping and supporting clients who have experienced either a one off trauma such as an accident or have experienced multiple trauma such as physical, emotional or sexual abuse.
Alongside my busy clinics in Bristol and Bath, I am Clinical Lead for Voices, a domestic abuse charity in Bath having previously been a counsellor for Kinergy, a specialist counselling service for survivors of sexual abuse and assault in Bristol and a number of Universities.

I regularly attend courses to expand my knowledge, alongside monthly supervision, which is required for my professional registration. This forms part of my Continual Professional Development (CPD). I hold a Level 3 First Aid certificate, Mental Health First Aid, certificate in Safeguarding and a certificate in Counselling and Solution-Focused Therapy.
