Everyone responds differently, but generally between 8-12 sessions for a range of anxiety related issues. To conquer a specific phobia is 4 sessions and the smoking cessation is a one off 2 hr session.
The initial consultation will last 50 mins. Subsequent weekly sessions after the initial consultation are 60 mins, apart from the smoking cessation, which is a one off 1.5 – 2hrs.
People often have a misconception of hypnotherapy, picturing the entertainment Hypnotist shows on TV where people are made to dance like a chicken or seem to drop into an unconscious, sleep state at the click of a finger. Hypnosis is a natural state of mind; people are often surprised that they hear every word and could get up and walk out of the room at any moment. Unless you enter a deeper state, you may not seem any different, just very relaxed. We go into trance everyday, whether staring out of a window or staring at the TV.
There are many different kinds of psychotherapy, all of which aim to help people overcome stress or emotional problems. The type of psychotherapy I practice encompasses ‘solution focused therapy techniques’ and is designed to reduce anxiety and calm the mind. Psychotherapy is often referred to as a talking therapy, but because the method I use is ‘Solution Focused’ there is no in-depth analysis of your past or any issues. The therapy focuses on finding solutions and is future oriented. We will acknowledge where you are currently, talk about where you want to be and then together we will help you achieve that goal.
Each session is a combination of psychotherapy and trance. During the first part of the session we will focus on the positive aspects of your life, which initially you may find challenging but as you progress it will be become easier! We will continue to discuss how the brain works and then make an assessment of where you are in terms of general happiness. I’ll help you to imagine your preferred future, a future where you have a more useful perspective on the quality of your life. I’ll then guide you, through the use of relaxation and visualisation techniques, into a relaxed state of hypnosis so that we can consolidate what we have discussed.
Everyone experiences hypnosis differently. Some people are more receptive than others, but even when in a very deep trance, the client will always be able to come out of it if they need to. You cannot get ‘stuck’ in hypnosis. Let’s say you were under hypnosis and I popped out to get a pint of milk, whilst I was gone the fire alarm went off! You would not be left in the chair unable to move, your subconscious would alert you and you would get to safety

As much notice as possible is required if you need to cancel your appointment. If you cancel your appointment within 24hrs of the day then full payment is required.
